The has awarded three Visiting Fellowships to researchers at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø and Tianjin University in China for work during second semester, 2010.
The fellowships are intended to promote academic exchange and collaboration between ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø and Tianjin University, which is the Chinese partner institution of the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø CI.
The CI visiting fellows will work on a research project in collaboration with staff at the partner university, conduct a project that will benefit from local research environments, or explore opportunities for collaboration between the two universities in research and teaching.
Two of the CI Visiting Fellows are Tianjin University (TU) staff who will be working at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø, while the third Visiting Fellow, Dr Yuanfang Li, from the School of Information Technology & Electrical Engineering (ITEE) at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø, will be working at TU for three months from early September.
Dr Li received the certificate of award from Professor Graham Schaffer, Executive Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture & Information Technology, and the Deputy Director of the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Confucius Institute, Professor Ling Li (Professor and Chair in Environmental Engineering).
Professor Xiwen Du from the School of Materials Science and Engineering and Professor Shixue Wang from State Key Laboratory of Engines at Tianjin University were presented their certificate of fellowship at a ceremony in August at Tianjin University.
Professor Jin Zou, Associate Fellow of the Confucius Institute at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø, presented the awards at the ceremony on behalf of the CI.
Distinguished guests present included Professor Xianjin Yang, Executive Deputy Chairman of University Administrative Council, Professor Haili Bai, Executive Associate Dean of Graduate School, and Professor Fuling Yang, Director of International Cooperation Office at TU.
